25H Yin Yoga & Acupressure Training

Module 3 connects Yin Yoga with acupressure concepts to intentionally stimulate energetic pathways, deepen body awareness, and structure practice spaces in a systematic way. In this module, you will learn to understand selected acupressure points and their effects, and how to integrate them meaningfully into Yin Yoga sequences.

Module 3: 25H YIN TO THE POINT

  • Become a yin and acupressure yoga teacher

  • Part of the Yoga Alliance-certified 100H Yin Yoga Training Vienna or non-YA certified 200H training

Module 3: 25h YIN TO THE POINT – Acupressure and Its Application in Yin Yoga

The following content is covered in this module. Each topic is accompanied by both practical application and theoretical background to ensure a solid understanding.

Why Acupressure in Yin Yoga?

Acupressure is a manual method for the targeted stimulation of points along energetic pathways (meridians). In the context of Yin Yoga, it supports nervous system regulation, deep relaxation, and energetic balance. Holding Yin asanas for longer periods can enhance the effects of specific points, as the tissue remains under gentle stimulation for an extended time. Module 3 presents these connections in a clear and practice-oriented way, without making therapeutic claims.

Module Content

The following topics provide both theoretical knowledge and practical application to integrate acupressure safely and meaningfully into Yin Yoga sequences.

  • Foundations of Acupressure:
Historical development, principles of point location, differences between acupressure and acupuncture, and safe application within a yoga context.

  • Selected Acupressure Points:
Function, effects, and practical application—for example, to support regulation, relaxation, or specific sequencing themes.

  • Meridian Clock and Extraordinary Vessels:
The principle of the 24-hour meridian clock and the two most important extraordinary vessels in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

  • Integration into Yin Yoga Sequences:
How specific acupressure points function within sequences, including sequencing logic, timing, and thematic focus.

  • Safety Principles:
Responsible guidance, limits of application, and the distinction between supportive touch and manipulation.

Learning Objectives – After completing this module, you will be able to:

  • Explain the fundamentals of acupressure, including meridian points, energetic effects, and functional classification.

  • Understand how Yin Yoga asanas stimulate energetic pathways and how acupressure points can be integrated into sequences.

  • Apply simple acupressure techniques to support relaxation, regulation, and self-awareness.

  • Structure Yin Yoga classes in a way that uses acupressure points intentionally, without making medical claims.

  • Be prepared to meaningfully connect somatic and nervous-system-oriented concepts (from Module 6) with energetic acupressure work.

Two students practising acupressure massage as one is locating a point on the shoulderblade of the other
a few students practising a yin yoga pose where the are leaning forward and hanging in a forward bend as their legs are relaxing
Three students practising the melting heart pose, by placing hands and arms on the mat as they are kneeling and stretching their shoulders and chest
Legs of a student with the manual in her lab as she is locating an acupressure point on the forearm
Six students working in pairs of two to locate acupressure point on the back during a yin yoga class
Lower legs of a participant who placed some moxa sticks on her legs and a lighter in her hands to burn them

Included in the Yin Yoga and Acupressure Training:

  • In-depth teaching of both theory and practice of acupressure within the context of Yin Yoga.

  • Practical sessions focused on working with meridians, points, and energetic patterns.

  • Guided exercises for integrating point stimulation into Yin Yoga practice.

  • Manual with all the acupressure points of the yin yoga and acupressure teacher training.

  • Small-group format with individual feedback.

  • Guidance on didactically sound sequencing.

  • Optional follow-up call (30 minutes) to clarify individual questions.

Who Is Module 3 on Yin Yoga & Acupressure Suitable For?

This module is designed for:

  • Yoga teachers

  • Experienced practitioners

  • Bodyworkers

who wish to expand their Yin Yoga teaching repertoire with energetic point work, an understanding of the meridian system, and functional sequencing. A basic understanding of Yin Yoga (e.g. Module 1) is required.

Module Connection: Module 1 & Module 6

Module 3 builds on the physical and methodological foundations of Module 1 and prepares you for the regulatory and somatic principles of Module 6 through energetic concepts, by connecting Yin Yoga with acupressure point work.
