Module 6: Yin for the Nervous System – Nervous System, Trauma-Sensitive Yoga and Somatic Tools in Yin Yoga
Yin Yoga is inherently a somatic practice that directly addresses both the body and the nervous system. Not every person responds in the same way to passive postures or invitations into stillness; for some, an asana sequence is not automatically experienced as relaxing, but may instead trigger stress responses or challenges in regulation. Without an understanding of the nervous system and trauma-sensitive approaches, such reactions often remain unnoticed or unaddressed.
For this reason, this module introduces the foundational principles of nervous system education and Polyvagal Theory, in order to understand the complexity of regulation and response. You will learn how to use nervous-system-friendly language, apply somatic tools, and structure Yin Yoga classes in a way that supports clearly defined learning objectives, safety, regulation, and inclusive experience.
The preceding modules (Foundations, Meditation, TCM/Acupressure) provide a solid base. This module builds upon that foundation and offers a space for practice and reflection in which you learn to teach Yin Yoga not only technically, but also somatically and systemically.

Teachers of Yin Yoga and the Nervous System Teacher Training
Nikoleta Nikisianli: Retreat Lead, many years of training in Yin Yoga, Tantra Yoga, meditation and breathwork, with over 800 hours of Yin Yoga training.
She encountered Yin Yoga and Tantra Yoga many years ago and has continuously refined her teaching approach ever since. Her teaching focuses primarily on these gentle yoga styles, which she combines with breathwork and meditation. From the outside, these practices may appear subtle or unspectacular; however, practitioners often experience them as deeply powerful and, at times, challenging. They invite a turning inward, supporting relaxation, grounding and inner awareness.
Nikoleta has completed more than 800 hours of Yin Yoga training and is certified in Tantra Yoga and Meditation. Her passion for regenerative and relaxation-based practices is complemented by further training in Thai Yoga Bodywork, anatomy and the nervous system, and she is also a certified Ayurvedic nutrition consultant.
Elisabeth Aue: Body and Health Expert, who brings extensive expertise in bodywork and health, with a background in physiotherapy, osteopathy, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Thai massage. She teaches nervous system anatomy, Dynamic Flow and Yin Yoga.
For over 15 years, Elisabeth has been working with the human body and health from both Western and Eastern perspectives. Her knowledge spans physiotherapy and osteopathy, yoga, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Thai massage.
In her work, she integrates medical expertise with a holistic approach, addressing body, mind and nervous system as an interconnected whole.
Within this Yin Yoga and Nervous System training, Elisabeth will share her knowledge of nervous system anatomy, as well as her insights into touch and breath. She will also teach one Dynamic Flow class and one Yin Yoga class as part of the program.
